My Aching Back

This is where I whine about how exhausted I am and blah blah bippity bee bop. We have finally finished the basement and I would post a picture but plugging in the camera and uploading one would take the percentage of my energy that I need to bring the beer to my lips. We have 2 more hours of work tonight to prepare for the house to be poisened with refinishing the floors. Moving the entire upstairs off the poopy wood floors has yet to happen. It will be 1am before we start cursing like sailors. Luckily, we are staying at a vacant house across the street that our realtor ho'd to us. Dude, our yard sale this weekend will be so pimped out. Like 40% of our clothes and 25% of the kitchen and I don't even remember what else. I look away as my fabulous niece and LTH make the pile.

Update: The cats have gone tribal at the vacant house across the street. We call it camping, or cabin-like, but the cats are in their own private hell. I woke up at 4am to what LTH thought was just another gun shot in the hood, but I was convinced the cats had collectively knocked over the dryer.

Update 2: The finished floors are the most beautiful I have ever seen. We all stood at the doorway in a reverent silence after gasping. If Jebus was standing in the middle of those floors I would not have seen him, for the beauty was blinding and I could not look away. They are like melted butter and bamboo with milk chocolate thrown in, but made out of old growth fir. Adjectives failed me, but "butter", "hot" and "sexy" were uttered. I will indeed post a picture as soon as I hook up the innernet at home and also find the camera cable which I fear is impossible.

Letting Jesus Take the Wheel

This weekend was our 6 year anniversary, and LTH tried to kill us. As we sped onto a bridge/on-ramp in the pouring rain, I was reaching over and opening my mouth to say, "Dude, yer goin' too fast," and then we started skidding out of control and spinning round and round, missing the sides by inches. Thanks to LTH's experience with doing cookies in the snow, we made it out of 4 spins unscathed and sideways in the middle of the ramp with a semi-truck headed right for us.

But whatever, we have painting to do.

Side Note

“Hold still, let me paint your toenails.” I crouched down to the floor and started brushing the plum polish on her toes. She was standing on the bathroom rug, curling her hair. Her evening dress touched my face by her knees. With a sly smile, I made a passing comment about our pose. This time we weren’t dressing up as Ripshitty Picket and Lemonteen Snow.

I wish I had a picture.

Bleary-Eyed and Ignoring the Cats

The cats have resorted to getting stoned because I am not paying attention to them. Since the water heater busted, we've been pulling long hours on week nights and 14 hour days on weekends to try to get the most bang for our buck rather than me just bending over for it. The house is coming together rather well, but it's going to be another month or so of labor. Or something. We want to get it on the market the beginning of June. Which is giving me slight acid reflux and constipation, but in a good way because I might get a backpacking trek to the Mediterranean region out of this. Because we don't have jobs where we're moving to. Or a place to stay. Cats and dogs? Where? In my pockets, it's cool.

Rather than bore us all with the accomplishments of our bruised hands and general crabby nature while we're squatting and farting over the trim with paintbrushes shaking, or tearing apart rubber waterproof laminate for the basement while debating over 1/8 inch measurements, I'll show you one small picture of the corner of Ms. Kennedy's basement garden bedroom.

Oh, Hi!

Right, now it's May. Probably better to just tick-off what's the happs:

We've helped two different friends get their houses either ready to sell or ready to move-in over 3 weekends.
I applied for other employment. In Boise.
We decided to move, by the way.
I interviewed for a job in Boise.
I don't know if I got it yet.
We met with a fantastic-fabulous realtor.
We have a list of 582 things to do to get the house ready in the next 1-2 months.
The water heater blew and flooded the basement all night (we thought it was raining).
Last night.
We took the day off today for the cleaning-crew to come, insurance adjuster, and plumber.

Mkay, miss you all! Come over for a cocktail, all two of you.

kthanks.
